     The hotline

Since the events of May 2021, Academia for Equality has been operating a hotline designed to respond to and accompany students who are attacked based on their political view and/or identity. Following the rise of the extreme right to power, political persecution is increasing.

 

Following the October 7 events, hundreds of students from all higher education institutions have been exposed to harassment, threats, and political persecution by members of right-wing organizations inside and outside the academic institutions. Palestinian citizens of Israel are arrested, summoned to disciplinary proceedings or suspended for publishing posts on social media that are supposed to be protected under freedom of speech. In light of the increase in political persecution of Palestinian activists and activities, the hotline provides a continuous response to students.

In November 2023, we issued a report on the situation of students during the war. The report was later translated into English.
