On the occasion of the opening of the second semester in universities and colleges, we addressed the heads of the institutions and shared with them a document we compiled at the Academy For Equality with guidelines for the protection of freedom of speech.
In recent months, we see more and more cases where various interest groups incite against individuals and groups in the faculty and the academic community.
The document is intended to give general guidelines and a framework that will help the management of the institutions to handle such cases while maintaining maximum freedom of speech, even beyond the current crisis.
We hope that these rules will help in adopting a policy that is not just a response to certain cases but an informed and calculated response to repeated cases.
We call on the university administrations to adopt the document and protect freedom of speech in academia.
