Academia for Equality has issued an urgent appeal to Tel Aviv University’s administration following the last-minute cancellation of a planned concert in Bar-Shira Hall. The event, organized by the Hadash student group and initially approved by the university, was canceled on the grounds that part of its proceeds were intended to support the "Think of Gaza" (فكر بغزة) campaign. This initiative, led by Hadash, has provided thousands of meals and cubic meters of water to displaced residents of Gaza. The Hadash student group called the cancellation "a severe escalation and a clear violation of our student movement and community," accusing the university of "treating anything related to Arabs and Palestinians as an enemy to be suppressed." Earlier this month, the university also barred a stand-up performance by Palestinian comedian Nidal Badarna, organized by the Balad party’s student group. Academia for Equality warns that this pattern of cultural suppression increasingly targets Palestinian students expressing solidarity with Gaza’s suffering.
